How to submit a trip report

Have you done a multi-day trip, vacation or longer journey? In any case we would like to present your trip report here. You keep all rights to your writing and pictures, copyright notes with your name will be added. The idea of this page is simply to share your experience, impressions and information with other people.

Your trip should fit into the general idea of adventurous travelling in a wider sence. It doesn't matter where you have been and what kind of transportation you used. It doesn't need to be extremely remote or dangerous or very unique or anything like that (although nothing's wrong if it's some or all of the above, of course...). Something you planned and arranged for yourself instead of taking the average offer from the travel agency around the corner is just fine, too. For example a canoeing trip to the Allagash River in Maine is still adventurous, even if thousands of people have done it before you. A beach and nightlife vacation to Cancun or Mallorca on the other hand is not, even if your rental car got stolen there. You get the picture? Just ask me if you are not sure.

You can either submit your pictures and text to be stored on this site or create a link if you already have a trip report on your on webpage.

If you have your report on your webpage, simply send your web address to reports@traveladventures.de and you are done, otherwise please read the guidelines below.

Guidelines:

It is easy to submit a report. You don't need to know anything about HTML. The only thing you really need is scanned pictures and plain text.

Text: Make it as long as you want, but keep in mind that more people will read it if you keep it short

Pictures: Pictures say more than words, so please submit at least a few.
Format: JPEG (*.jpg), width 400 pixels for horizontal pictures, 300 for vertical ones. Please select a compression rate so that the size ends up below 25k per picture. For example Microsofts "Picture It!" with the compression rate set to 30% and width at 400 usually gives results between 12k and 22k. There are plenty of tools, some even freeware, that can do the job (although I haven't had any luck with adobe's photodeluxe which seems to insist in file sizes >30k).
Please name the pictures like "uc_sw_burrcamp.jpg" where "uc" stands for the category (uc=usa/canada, mc=mexico/central america, sa=south america, af=africa, eu=europe, as=asia, au=australia, an=antarctica, ar=greenland and arctica, mc=multi continent) and "sw" as something you can pic describing your trip (for example sw=south west). Also it would be very much appreciated if you could submit a thumbnail-picture, width 80 (60 if horizontal), size 1k-2k, using the same name as the full-size picture but with "_sm" for small in the end (for example "uc_sw_burrcamp_sm.jpg").

Email: We would like to give your email address at the end of your report so that people can ask you questions.

Layout: Please see the other trips as examples of possible layout. However, if you think another layout is better suited to present your report, this can be done too. You don't really need to do the layout yourself, you simply submit the text and the pictures - with special instructions if you want - and give feedback if it doesn't look right to you.

Submit: Once you have pictures and text just submit them as attachments in one or multiple emails to reports@traveladventures.de.
